The
“Land of Nairi” that’s the way Armenia was referred to as in an ancient
Assyrian legends. That is the territory where Armenian ethnos and the
first Armenian state took shape, and having passed through the centuries
full of hardships and ordeals, it withstood the test of time, carried
the day, and is making its way today.
The way
that is full of victories, failures, and tragic events. Indeed one may
wonder is it possible that all these events made the chapters of the
history of one nation. A book of history that could either remains
unread, or not called for. As the learned elders of East told - what we
know about our past, in order to be able to move forward in right
direction?
The
author of the video tries to find answers to these questions, and sets
out on the journey from the modern capital Yerevan, passing through the
ancient fortresses, places of kings, and mountainside of the bible
mountain Ararat, where according to the Old Testament, Noah landed the
Ark.
The road
is full of meetings with people, which have their own histories
intermingled with the past and present of the nation, and above of all
that undergone to cruel suffering and has never been condemned by
anyone in the history of civilization.
The land
is as old as the earth and is as new as the new millennium. However,
along with the thoughts on all the issues, the film is not the lesson on
history, but the road full of live meetings with workmen, trades people,
cooks, musicians, and common people, and depicts vividly the way of
their life, habits and customs.
The film
has been shot during the period of 19 months, passes through all
seasons, depicts gorgeous sceneries of nature, magnificent architectural
masterpieces of the cities today and ancient remains of past, both
ravishing and attracting today. |
